In Greek mythology, Pegasus was an immortal winged horse, one of the two children of Poseidon and Medusa.  Bellerophon, another Greek hero, captured Pegasus and rode him in his fight with the monster Chimera.  Bellerophon attempted to fly with Pegasus to heaven but was thrown by Pegasus and landed back on earth.   “The Flight of Pegasus” is a fanfare for wind ensemble depicting the flight of the famed creature.
